I was considering playing WoW since I've heard good things. Is playing a warlock good for my first class? Any tips on what race to play? Am i wasting my time? Should I stick to guitar hero? Thanks...

Halloween Party [17 Oct 2007|11:09am]

Dear Friends,

I just wanted to remind everyone that my annual Halloween Costume Party will be on Saturday, October 27th at my house and will begin around 8pm. If you are drinking please be kind enough to bring booze for yourself or others. I will be getting a few cases but the more and varied sources of boozahol the better. Also, unless you are a complete douche you should come in costume. Seeing as I’m dispensing with the themes for New Years, this is the one chance for costumed inebriation I get all year. Hope to see you there, please RSVP.

Party's a go.. 4 now [10 May 2007|05:24pm]
I’ve decided to go ahead with the bonfire (on fri 5/11) because there is only a 30% chance of rain after 8pm. So 8ish at my place, please bring beer if possible (I’m living off credit cards so I’m prob only gonna get a case (maybe a case and ½). IF it gets really shitty weather wise (or still is shitty around 8) we can meet at my place and find a bar to go to. Let me know if you’re in for tomorrow so I can figure out who is coming.

A good excuse for a party. [07 May 2007|10:03pm]

What’s up everyone? Since Friday will  mark my last final as a 1L (thought I’ll still have the write-on competition) I def want to go out and party. If the weather is nice (and right now it’s looking to be about 50/50) I’m going to have a bonfire at my house with lots of booze (which I’ll need since I’m poor) on Friday night. If its shitty then Towers of Power at Duffers might be an alternative (unless anyone else feels like having an indoor party at their place). I’ll keep you all updated on the weather situation and let people know by Thursday morning what the plan is. Just let me know if you are down for either so I can plan accordingly (and if we end up at Duffer’s hopefully someone can cart my soon to be drunk ass around, apparently I can’t pass out in the lawn there like I do at my own house).

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy [29 Apr 2007|12:52am]
Twenty Five days of limited human contact and a new coffee maker... $43
A five hundred page write on-packet and an extra week of work after finals... $25
Selling your immortal soul for a chance at lots and lots of money.... Priceless

On the brightside I've finally secured my first legal employment. Over the summer I will be working 40-50 hours a week for Philadelphia Legal Aid (located on Temple's Campus). I'll primarily be handling domestic issues (custody, child support, domestic abuse and the occasional divorce) though for part of the summer I will be woking with late stage cancer and AIDS patients to formulate wills and estates and help them obtain SSI.

In additon with any luck I'll be doing Temple's ITAP (Integrated Trial Advocacy Program) next semester. As such I will qualify to be pre certified by PA (or NJ but really, who wants to go there) to handle my own cases as a 2L intern. Should be fun.

One more thing. I haven't decided on a date, but some time later in May (after the 11th) I want to have a reasonably sized party since I haven't been able to see anyone as of late. It will be good to get back in touch with booze.. i mean my friends (same thing really).

Politics... Well Kinda [28 Feb 2007|12:40pm]

I decided to throw my hat in and run for a position on the Student Bar Association 's(SBA) Board of Governer's, most likley Secretary. Duties would include running parlimentary procedure for all meetings, having vote (along with the SBA President, Vice President, and Tresurer)  on all financial distributions to student orginizations and making sure the student Constitution is followed. Also, if elected it will give me good ties to the Philadelphia Bar Associtation (which is the structure I belive we emulate). Either way wish me luck in the upcoming election, I'm not sure the extent of my competition but it would be a pretty nice boon on my resume if I won. Since we have to design campaign flyers I'm thinking of using the movie poster from "The Secretary" and perhaps the tag line "I'll Spank the Competition".

As I've mentioned before, law school is much more like high school then any lawyer would like to admit :)

Itchy burning sensation [24 Feb 2007|11:06pm]

you really know life sucks when you have to write a 35 page appellate brief and you find yourself having to cut 10 pages of text. Tastes like another sleepless night to me, remember when Saturday was for drinkin'?

Fuck the Uniform Commercial Code and 5 hour finals. I especially hate you UCC Section 2-207, with your acceptances that vary the offer and your "between merchants" clause. I hope you die and are tortured for all eternity in legislative hell.

New Years Eve!!! [06 Dec 2006|04:29pm]
Friends, Well-Wishers and Co-Conspirators,

It’s that time of year again! When a jolly fat man dressed in costume sneaks into my house to imbibe goodies and spread holiday cheer. I’m of course referring to New Years Eve (and there’s usually a bunch of fat men, my self included). This year I’ve decided to yield to popular opinion (the two people who gave me a suggestion) and have chosen the theme of Heroes and Villains.

They can be of the super variety or from the world of popular film and literature. And if you happen to hate fictional characters your free to pick you favorite historical hero or heel. Even the classy world of pro-wrestling is game but make sure to pick someone who fits into a clear category (I’m thinking 80’s hulk Hogan or Iron Sheek. HHH could go either way so he would not make a good choice). For your benefit I’ve included the AFI’s top 100 heroes and villains if you need a suggestion from the world of film.

As usual the party will start at 8:30pm on December, 31st at my house and run until the next morning. Feel free to bring a date (or two… or three) and stay over if you get drunk (pillows and blankets will be provided as well as breakfast). This year I will be getting a half keg (it was more then enough for Halloween) and some liquor. As usual everyone should bring booze enough for themselves if they plan to drink. I have included a list of possible stuff I’ll need. If everyone could pick something off the list (or tell me what they are bringing that would be great. As always please RSVP ASAP either by E-Mail or LJ!!! In your RSVP please include what you are bringing. Have a happy holiday and I hope to see you all on the New Year’s Eve!

Truly Yours,
- Bill

Stuff I Need: 2 Bottles of Rum, 2 Bottles of Gin, 2 Bottles of Vodka, Bottle of Scotch, Bottle of Tequila, Tonic Water, Soda Water, Sour Mix, Margarita Mix, Red Wine, White Wine, Various Foodstuffs, Other Mixers, and anything else interesting that I might of forgot.

Party Update! [26 Oct 2006|10:16am]
Hey Y'all,
I just wanted to give a brief update on the party. Despite reports to
the contrary the rain, which is going to last all day saturday, should
be gone by evening so..... dress warm, dress in costume and hopefully
(if I can find my tarp) we will still have a rockin bonfire.

Secondly, I'm going to buy the biggest keg of yunegling that PA will
allow but judging from the amount of people who said they will be
coming I will still need more booze. So if you are going to drink
please bring either a bottle of booze, wine, 6/12 pack of beer ect.
other wise that keg will kick faster any of us want.

And just in case you forgot it will be this Saturday, October 28th at
8:30pm. Costumes are a must and there will be prizes for the best.
Hope to see you there, happy halloween!

Magic the Gathering has paid off [11 Oct 2006|05:07pm]
[ mood | geeky ]
[ music | Socractic Torture of other Students ]

At last all the money and time I have spent on Magic the Gathering have paid off. I can now apply the stack rules to Contracts Class. Now if only I can could figure out how to make the Konami Code work for Torts :)

Today we are going to start off with Uniform Commercial Code 2-207.

Suppose it is 1879 and you run a clothing store and you are dealing with a manufacturer.

Tuesday: You telegraph the manufacturer “Please quote prices on 50-100 cotton shirts and 100-200 wool shirts to be delivered in December”

Wednesday: M= We don’t make cotton shirts. For 100-200 shirts we will sell for $10/shirt and require cash within one week for December delivery, notify me by Nov. 1st.

Is this an offer? A litmus test is if you think you can say ‘I accept’.

Thursday: You = “I accept for 75 shirts = offer

Friday: M= I cannot book your order at 75 shirts

Saturday: Y = I accept for 100 = offer

Sunday: M = I’m sorry, there is no contract I don’t want your business

Under this situation the rejection of Thursday’s offer voids any possibility of the contract. Thus the contention that Saturday’s offer was an acceptance of Wednesday’s condition is not valid. There was an old rule called the “mirror image rule” meaning that you must accept the exact terms of the offer in reverse order. Think of it like ballroom dancing, for two people to accept a contract must mirror each other’s steps. This is connected to “the last shot rule” which states that the last offer entered is the controlling offer for the contract.

And the stars look very diffrent today [21 Aug 2006|03:21am]
[ mood | nervous ]
[ music | Space Oddity- David Bowie ]

This is it, five hours until I start law school. I really shouldn't be this nervous, but I am. It really feels like I've been coasting up until this point. God what I wouldn't give for just a few more hours/days/months. The funny thing is, I had two months off. But I expected to squander that time, pressure is the only thing that gets me going.

I guess I just hope that I'm ready. It'll be a fight, but I'm going to come out swinging.

And they keep on rolling in. [02 Feb 2006|12:59pm]
I've just been accepted to Temple University's Beasly School of Law. Aside from being my alma mater Temple Law has the number one civil litigation program in the nation and is a direct line into city/state and national politics (90% of philadelphia city council went to Temple Law as well as a majority of our state senators. Not to mention quite a few Congressmen. Now I have choices to make....

Love and Joy [25 Dec 2005|01:11pm]
[ mood | grateful ]

Merry Christmas to Everyone and may you all find the blessings of the New Year. I have a lot to be thankful for but all the gifts in the world cannot compare to my family and friends. Thank you for being who you are and bringing joy to my life.

"Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. Love does not demand its own way. Love is not irritable, and it keeps no record of when it has been wronged. It is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance."
Corinthians 13:4-7

ITS THAT TIME OF YEAR, Doll.... [05 Dec 2005|04:42pm]
My annual New Years Eve Party will be held on…. surprise New Years Eve, December 31st, 2005 at my house at 8:30pm. This year’s theme is 1920’s gangster.

Yup, from Al Capone to Vito Corleone. Bugsy Segel to Tommy Gun Malone. Think prohibition, flappers and jazz. My house will be transformed into a 1920’s era speakeasy and the depression will be years away. So come prepared, dressed and loaded to usher in the New Year with a bang. Authentic personalities are prefreed (I love people who do their historical research) but if you want to come as generic gangster #1 be my guest, just don’t expect to be nominated for an Oscars.

As always I’ll need people to bring contributions (as much Illegal houch as you can sneak in from Canada or brew in your bathtub) not to mention other more mundane items (steal some ice from your walk in freezer where you keep the bodies). I hope to see everyone there so bring a date, friend, neighbor or a nefarious cohort and get ready to do the Charleston as we party like its 1929.

I’ll be sending out an email as well but I’m sure I’ve got a lot of bad addresses and I’ll be missing people. So if you could please RSVP ASAP and let me know what kind of BYOB that you will bring. Also I’ll propely be asking many of you for the info of people I don’t often get to see so if there is someone you think should come just let me know. Oh yeah, the password to get past the doorman is “Bumpy” just be sure to get it right or little Tony might get a bit rough showing you the door.

8. If I do this for you, you must post this on your journal.

HALLOWEEN PARTY EXTRAVAGANZA!! [17 Oct 2005|02:16pm]
[ mood | devious ]

Just letting everyone know that I am having a halloween party on Saturday, October 29th. There will be a big bonfire (and perhaps a wicker man if i can get my act together), spooky music (freddies gonna get ya) and costumes lots and lots of costumes. Oh yeah, tons of booze (and maybe some drunken bobin for apples). Either way it should start around 8pm, everyone should bring some alcohal if they are going to drink (or food if they are not) and COSTUMES ARE REQUIRED, NO ADMITTION WITHOUT A COSTUME. It should be fun and if you want to bring guests or invite people i haven't seen for a while feel free. I'm expecting 20-40 people and I want to have a night to remember (as long as that dosen't mean getting locked up). If you know you are coming (or want to bring someone) and haven't talked to me please RSVP via comments or a phone call. See you all soon, happy halloween......
